The Marilyn Brown Novel Award

The Marilyn Brown Novel Award (MBNA) awards a cash prize of $1000 to the author of the best unpublished novel submitted to the award committee. The MBNA judges award the prize every two years, on even numbered years (2002, 2004, 2006, etc.) at the annual meeting of the Association for Mormon Letters, usually held in March.

2008 Award submission deadline -- 1 July 2007

Submission Information

  • Manuscripts should be on white paper, the text double-spaced, printed on the front and back of each sheet (double-sided), and have it bound with a spiral binding -- like a book, easy to open
  • No identification should appear on the manuscript
  • On a single sheet of white paper, type your name, address, and phone number. Put this paper inside an envelope, and seal the envelope. On the outside of the envelope, write only the title of your novel. Include this sealed envelope with your submission.
  • If you want the judges to return your manuscript, include an SASE in the sealed envelope or in some other way that conceals your identity
  • To have your novel considered for the 2008 MBNA, your submission must receive a postmark no later than 1 July 2007.
  • Send your submission to:
    Marilyn Brown Novel Award

    P O Box 113

Participants should plan to attend the annual meeting when the award will be given, if at all possible. If you have additional questions, contact Marilyn Brown at (801) 489-4980 or email AML.
